The wait is almost over for Canadians. The Microsoft Zune will be hitting the store shelves on June 13, 2008. I suspect that they will being flying off the shelves like crazy. People want , scratch that, need an alternative to the iPod. They got it in the US. Canadians are now going to be the lucky recipients.

Canadians can now download free Zune software from Zune.ca and also join the online music community with other Canadians. Since the Canadian dollar is so close to the US dollar currently, prices are going to pretty similar. Here are the models and prices to be expected:

• - Zune 80GB: MSRP $249.99
• - Zune 8GB: MSRP $189.99
• - Zune 4GB: MSRP $139.99

They will be available in black, red or pink (except the 80GB won’t be available in pink for some reason). A couple web sites of interest to Canadians are ZuneNews.ca and ComingZune.ca.

1 ) Open Cucusoft Zune Conversion Software Suite, insert your DVD and click the ‘Run DVD to Zune Converter’ button (top button, see below)

2 ) If this is your first time running the software read the Software Agreement, choose “I accept the agreement” (if you do), then put a checkmark in the checkbox below so that it won’t warn you again and click OK. (see below)

3 ) If you running an evaluation copy of the software a message will come up explaining that the outputted video will have a watermark in the middle of the video. You have the option to continue with the evaluation (for testing) or to purchase the software.

4 ) Click the Open DVD button, locate your DVD from the window that opens, click OK, click Convert. You could have changed the output settings prior to converting but the defaults will be fine in most cases. Once the conversion is complete, assuming you left the defaults, you will find your final video in the c:\ConverterOutput folder.

5 ) Copy the newly created video to your Zune. Enjoy!

Steps to Convert Videos with Cucusoft Zune Conversion Suite

1 ) Open Cucusoft Zune Conversion Software Suite and click ‘Run Zune Video Converter’ button (middle button, see below)

4 ) Click “Open File”. You can select multiple files for batch conversion! This example with just go through converting a single file though.

5 ) Select the file(s) that you would like to convert and click Open. I will be converting an episode of Lost from the 1st season for this example. (see below)

6 ) Click the Convert button. You can change some output setting prior to conversion but in most cases the defaults will be fine. Once the conversion is complete, assuming you left the defaults, you will find your final video in the c:\ConverterOutput folder.

7 ) Copy the newly created video to your Zune. Enjoy!

Follow the steps below to install Cucusoft Zune Conversion Suite onto your computer. Some screenshots may differ slightly to what you see.

1 ) Download Cucusoft Zune Converter Suite (for videos and DVDs)

Click Save when prompted. Pay attention to where the file is being downloaded to. If you are using Windows XP and Firefox it will save the file to your Desktop by default.

2 ) Double-click the install file to complete the download and start the installation (install icon should be similar to above). Click Download when the box similar to the one below pops up.

3 ) Click Next on the Welcome Screen (below)

4 ) Choose “I accept the agreement” on the License Agreement screen (below) and click Next

5 ) Click Next on the Select Destination Location screen (see below)

6 ) Click Next on the Select Start Menu Folder screen (see below)

7 ) Click Next on the Select Additional Tasks screen which will add a desktop icon for Cucusoft Zune Suite (see below)

8 ) Click Install on the Ready To Install screen (see below)

9 ) Installation complete! Click Finish (see below) and Cucusoft DVD to Zune + Zune Video Converter Suite will launch automatically.
